Oregon Coast Plein Air; Painting Landscapes From Life in Oil
Join Us for an Intensive Two-Day Workshop on Landscape Painting along the Majestic Oregon Coast
In this intensive two-day workshop, we will explore essential landscape painting principles. These include composition, value, depth, and color. On the first day, we will be at the Oregon Coast School of Art. Here, we will focus on fundamentals through thumbnail drawings and monochromatic paintings.
On the second day, we will venture to the dramatic cliffs of Shore Acres State Park. Please meet us at the cliffs past the parking lot inside the park, not at the entrance sign. During this session, we will use a full split-primary palette to capture the scale of our surroundings. Additionally, we will study the anatomy of waves and unravel the secrets of reflections in water.
This class will also cover essential oil painting techniques. We will discuss paint application, edge control, and transitioning from thin to thick layers. While oil is my medium of choice, students are welcome to bring any other painting mediums they prefer. Prior painting experience is preferred.
